Turkish plant based feast

We made it! After a 10 hour journey (that started at 4:30am) with 2 cranky kids and 2 half-sleeping parents, we arrived at my aunts summer home in Bodrum, Turkey. Many of our aunts and cousins have made the trip from all over the country to join us here for a little while – which makes us a very full and happy house!

Soon after we arrived we sat down to eat. I must admit I was a bit worried – it was my first time traveling here (home) on my new plant based diet. I had warned them ahead of time but I was expecting to eat only salad.

I was very wrong! We had the most amazing feast – red pepper and tomato soup, stuffed peppers with rice (dolma), artichoke hearts with sweet peas, lemon and dill, garlicky aubergines with tomato and onion. Sooo good. I will need to post the recipes with each dish when I can type on something faster than my iPhone! Will keep posting what we are eating – so many new yummy foods to discover! 20140529-221016-79816238.jpg
